The Wonders of Technology

In the vast moving trend of the business world, human kinds have relied greatly on technology. Let’s face it, there is technology for everything and whether we want to or not, we feel somewhat obligated to educate ourselves with this so called practicality. Yes, we must agree that ‘practical’ is the appropriate word to describe what one can achieve using technology. It is ever-evolving and continuously simplified for the sake of the ‘simple’ people of the targeted market, and it offers just about any product and service one can imagine. With regard to the most utilized technological equipment, it would be fair to suggest that the Internet is amongst the top spots.

We can do just about anything on it, from ordering our weekly food shopping to purchasing a luxury tropical holiday. All with one click of a button! We can receive information about what is happening on the other side of the world, as well as the latest friendly gossip of the neighbour on the other end of the street. Would it be wise to say that technology has saved us and therefore we are able to complete so many tasks with so little time, gain so many acquaintances through so little effort? Or is it directing us, slowly but surely, to a place where it is not necessary to put a name to the face and that social skills are no longer required to socialize?

It is without a doubt an interesting subject to discuss. One may use the Internet purely for work purpose, then distract entirely from it by engaging in technology-free outdoor activities, while others depend on it to do nearly everything in their daily lives. I have been told that it is almost correct to conclude dependency on surfing (or any other related activities) the internet as an addiction. One just has to do it, every time, anywhere. From personal experience, I have actually witnessed the highly available technology to be the sole reason for face to face communication to be going to extinction. I was quite surprised to see the beautiful young couple sitting across the table from us in a restaurant on a beautiful Sunday morning only exchanged words when they needed to settle the bill. During the rest of the meal, one was texting, the other on his notebook.

Crossing over from this point of view, communication technology has done plenty for us. It provides us with access to a better, faster, more practical way of communicating, from sharing stories with family and friends, to selling and buying products. It allows us to broaden our knowledge about things otherwise impossible to learn. It also accommodates organizations with fast acting responses from customers towards achieving higher productivity, improved products, profit, and eventually higher quality of life overall.

When focusing our discussion on how the Internet plays an important part of our day-to-day activities, it is necessary to include all of its aspects. Based on surveys, researches, interviews and the dynamics between the Internet and its users, it was suggested that the underlying factor of the success of the Internet had been the marketing aspect. It was pointed out that the less favorable impact of real distance, such as difficulties of keeping frequent contacts between two parties, have been solved by the fast and immediate access when they communicate using the Internet. One no longer needs to travel the distance to buy products, in the same manner as companies proceed to sell their products. With appropriate strategies dedicated to sell products using the Internet, these companies could concentrate on just few aspects of the marketing side of their business.

Reports have shown that numerous websites have successfully generated more customers and increase sales within a significantly short time. In addition, there would be less expense allocated for renting or buying a shop to showcase their products, and since almost everybody nowadays are pretty good connected to the Internet, sales could be done almost anytime. Further to having better connection, customers now have the access to search, view and purchase various products otherwise limited in a conventional shopping establishment.

These websites have become very significant that it would be almost impossible to neglect including them in a conversation. At the moment, websites that are extremely popular are not only those selling tangible products, but also those connecting friends, families and colleagues around the world. In order to understand how these communication technology marvels work, we need to familiar ourselves with some of the widely used terms, their history and the key factors to their ever growing success.
