Social Network

Social Network could be described as a structure that reflects the dynamic of individuals within the social context, with regard to the type of relationship connecting these individuals. Networking could occur amongst families, friends, colleagues or even publics within their parts as citizens of a country. It was also explained that social network captured various backgrounds based on what role each individual plays, the likeness of views and opinions, being members of the same institutions, family ties, or even as simple as friendships.

It was also stated that the common view of this social network, along with the individual’s contribution to the network, presented a noteworthy role on how a particular network think, behave, and connect to the social others outside their network. As the attitude of networking involves exchange of information, individuals are interacting upon positive and negative influences. A study also revealed that it was more beneficial for an individual to have connections with more networks than to have more connections within one network. Similar tendency also applies to networks that are more opened to outside influence, hence taking into considerations opinions from those around their network, in comparison to a network that keeps value to themselves. If enriching knowledge is the case, loosely connected network would be more prepared to grow, rather than ‘reserved’ network, which are content with their existing attributes, knowledge and characteristics.

Based on what we have learnt so far, it would be easy to accept the level of importance a social network is. More often than not, an individual would be aspired to grow, gain more knowledge, make friends and be part of a dynamic that is beneficial to them. Exchange of information occurs all the time, whether it is between the pupils in academic institutions, or between the government and their citizens. We receive and give various types of information on a daily basis. Some make more impact than others. It is also a common tendency for people to be selective of the information that they take in. This could depend on interest, necessity or leisure factors. Some people seek information because they are interested to know more about a particular matter, some require information to proceed with certain activity, and others receive information for entertainment purpose. A number of behavioural studies suggested that an individual tends to seek interaction with others who are more likely to have positive energy about them. This could mean having common interest, or the potential exchange of valuable information. Individuals are more attracted to build connection with others, with the intentions to gain relationship of support, guidance and education. Students attending the same institutions would be likely to have connection due to their common academic environment. Mothers with similar age children would better connect because they understand each other’s circumstances.

There are many ways we can be involved in social networks. The more convenient and faster way to date would probably be via the Internet. The social networking activity utilization of the Internet has been an incredible combination of communication and technology. Each carries an ever-growing attributes with constant movement of the users. Social networking seems to be the ‘thing’ to do and the websites providing this service the ‘place’ to be these days. Those wanting to keep in contact despite of distance and those eager to stay updated with the most recent happenings are bound to find these websites truly useful. They are the providers of what we can call; the easy, immediate access to our chosen contacts and news feeds.
